River Life

I painted this on location as part of a Plein Air competition, along the Maumee River in Northwest Ohio and was selected for the Springfield Museum of Art Parks En Plein Air Show.  As I stood on the exposed rock, I looked at the river and thought of the history of Native Americans and the early settlers living along the Maumee as well my wonderful childhood memories.  This made me want to capture this beautiful moment and title it "River Voices" as a collection of wonderful memories.
